Treated Timber - Blue Pine Framing

Termites are a part of Australia’s natural ecology and environment and can be found in most areas of the mainland. The risk from termites attacking a home varies with many factors but can be assessed after consulting with local authorities and building experts. Many effective termite management systems are available which will give you many years of trouble free service with reasonable attention to maintenance and the use of regular inspection.

The Building Code of Australia (BCA) has provisions for protecting the structure of a house and prescribes several methods including the use of termite protected timber framing to meet its requirements. Termite protected timber framing can be used as an important element in termite management systems in all Australian states and territories.

The use of Blue H2-F framing in combination with ground level termite management systems and regular maintenance and inspection provides highly effective “whole of house” protection for your investment.

Blue H2-F termite resistant framing has been developed by the Australian pine framing industry after extensive field trials, the approval of relevant regulators for safety and effectiveness and inclusion in Australian standards. It provides a surprisingly cost effective way to protect the structural frame of your home. The treatment process involves the application of organic insecticides that are used in common household applications such as fly-spray and head lice treatments, they are safe to handle and pose no significant threat to humans, plants or animals.

While Blue H2-F termite protected framing is clearly marked to indicate the grade and treatment type, most Australian producers have taken the initiative to use a blue dye to assist in recognition of the product during manufacture and erection of the structural frame. While the blue dye may fade after sun and weather exposure, the treatment will not be affected in the normal time periods used for house construction.

Blue H2-F protected pine framing is supported by a 25 year guarantee against structurally significant damage for the first homeowner and is transferable to subsequent homeowners during the guarantee period. The benefits of using H2-F termite protected structural framing include:

  • Affordability
  • Peace of Mind
  • A safe effective solution
  • 25 year guarantee
  • Easy recognition
