Mechanically stress graded (MSG) timber - manufacturing specifications

A3P has initiated the development of a new benchmarking tool to help timber producers ensure their structural products are manufactured to the correct grade.

This tool known as Generic Manufacturing Specification for Mechanically Stress Graded Products, was released by the FWPRDC in July 2007, to provide generic specifications, requirements and procedures that can be used by timber producers as a model for a Site Manufacturing Specification for MSG Products.

Timber procedures who choose to use this important tool will benefit from:

  • The comprehensive guide to responsibilities in supplying accurately graded products to the building industry.
  • A national model (and step-by-step guide) for developing and implementing an internal quality assurance program for MSG timber products.
  • Time and money saved that might have been previously spent on developing a site manufacturing specification.
  • The knowledge that their products are meeting customer expectations by providing high quality and accurately graded products to the building industry.
